Job Description
We are seeking a UX Designer to drive user-centered design across Thermo Fisher Scientific's One Lambda software portfoliosupporting transplant diagnostics and HLA laboratory workflows. This role spans both application-level experiences (e.g., HLA typing, antibody analysis tools) and platform-level systems (e.g., lab data management, interoperability, and workflow orchestration). You will design for highly specialized users (lab technicians, clinicians, transplant coordinators) and complex, data-intensive environments where accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance are critical.
Thermo Fisher software solutions support the analysis, interpretation, and management of transplant diagnostic data, including HLA typing and antibody monitoring.
DESCRIPTIONHow you will make an impact:
Application-Level UX:
Design intuitive workflows for complex scientific applications (e.g., HLA typing, antibody analysis, sequencing data visualization)Translate highly technical lab processes into usable, efficient interfacesCreate wireframes, interaction models, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designsOptimize workflows for accuracy, speed, and error reduction in regulated environmentsPlatform-Level UX:
Design cross-product experiences that unify multiple One Lambda software tools into a cohesive ecosystemContribute to shared design systems, interaction patterns, and data modelsImprove interoperability and data flow between applications (e.g., instrument analysis reporting)Partner with engineering on scalable UX patterns for enterprise/lab platformsUser Research & Validation:
In partnership with product managers and business analysts, conduct contextual inquiry with customersTranslate domain complexity (immunogenetics, transplant diagnostics) into actionable design insightsValidate designs through usability testing and iterative feedback loopsCross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with product managers and software engineersBalance user needs with compliance requirements (e.g., IVD software constraints)Support agile development with clear design specs and documentationREQUIREMENTSHow you will get here:
Required:
37+ years of UX design experience (healthcare, life sciences, or enterprise software preferred)Experience designing complex, data-heavy applications (not just marketing/UI surfaces)Strong interaction design and information architecture skillsProficiency in design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.) and prototypingExperience working with cross-functional teams in technical environmentsPreferred:
Experience with laboratory software, healthcare diagnostics, or scientific toolsFamiliarity with regulated environments (e.g., FDA, IVD, GxP)Experience designing for data visualization and scientific workflowsBackground in platform or systems design (design systems, multi-product ecosystems)Emphasize AI-assisted analysis UXInclude workflow automation and decision support UXAdd global usability considerations .
