Meta is seeking a graduate mechanical engineering student to support its Accelerator Reference Design team. The intern will run structural simulations to guide the mechanical design of high-power, liquid-cooled accelerator modules and collaborate with mechanical, thermal, packaging and electrical engineers. ResponsibilitiesBuild, mesh and run structural FEA models in ANSYS of accelerator modules, PCBs and mechanical hardware such as stiffeners and cold platesSimulate mounting and preload, assembly, gravity and handling loads to evaluate stress, strain and deflection against design criteriaRun warpage simulations at room and elevated temperatures for bare boards, populated boards and full assembliesRun design-of-experiment and parametric studies (geometry, thickness, material) to support design trade-offsCorrelate simulation results with lab test data (e.g. shadow moiré, strain gauge) and refine models to improve accuracyDocument assumptions, boundary conditions and results in clear rep
