ABOUT THE ROLE Base’s Finance & Business Operations team combines financial planning & analysis with business decision-making & strategy across our vertically integrated business, directly supporting Base’s leadership team. We map our work to the core functions of the business like go to market, deployments, engineering, and manufacturing; and we embed in both the daily operations and long-term planning of these functions. Team members are expected to be sharp analysts who can make the best decisions for the company and implement them, and high EQ partners to our teammates as we make tough business & financial decisions. Base does not have a centralized strategy, strategic finance, analytics, corporate development, or related functions; this team is our equivalent of each of these things at similar companies. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Build the model, own the forecast and plan v actuals, define and drive operating metrics, and work with teammates across the business to achieve our highest priority business goals. - Provide strategic insights and conclusions based on your analysis. - Guide planning and resource management for specific operating functions (e.g., headcount, make-buy decisions, investment approvals). - Identify initiatives that improve Base’s financial performance and outlook. - When needed, step up to own key one-time business initiatives like a new acquisition, a new cross-functional analytical program roll-out, or a business plan for a new straetgic opportunity. - Run programs across functions without authority; rally cross-functional groups around our missions and high impact initiatives to achieve it. - Know the business and our team well: spend time on the factory floor, with the field teams and with our sales and marketing teams. WHAT YOU’LL BRING - 3–7 years in operating finance, consulting, investing or banking. - Bonus: experience in an operating seat where you owned real operational outcomes. - Ability to model complex businesses and decisions and communicate outputs clearly. - Excel + SQL experience. - Comfort operating without a map and leading cross-functional work without authority. - Fluency working alongside AI: know how to get great outputs and when to drive analysis yourself. ABOUT THE TEAM The Base business operations team is responsible for some of the company's highest-leverage outcomes: financing our growth, commercial partnerships, acquisitions and integrations, new market and product entries, and the programs that span too many teams to have a natural owner. It is a set of small teams of generalists who work directly with Base's founders, pick up the problem that matters most, build the structure and analysis it needs, and hand back something that runs itself. Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
